The studio

Bare Objects is a Mumbai-based artisan design studio exploring the quiet power of simplicity. Rooted in the language of art and architecture, our work celebrates forms stripped back to their essence and materials expressed in their most natural, elemental state. We are drawn to the raw, the tactile, the imperfect — materials that carry their own character, and forms that reveal rather than conceal.

For us, design is not about creating something that merely looks beautiful. It is about creating a feeling. An encounter with form, texture, colour, and material that lingers, invites curiosity, and evokes an emotional response. Each object is an exploration of restraint and expression — where craft meets materiality, and simplicity becomes a form of beauty.

At Bare Objects, we believe that when you take away everything unnecessary, what remains can speak the loudest.

Our ethos engages in looking at building material as a deposit of factors that impact our design processes and solutions, while keeping in mind the urge to enhance its bare forms through design. The studio’s design philosophy believes in preservation of individualistic authenticity of layers of Art and Architecture such as building materials, textures, colours, shape and forms and appropriating its evolution in design.

The studio also focuses on concepts of design which aids the bona fide relationships of the space and its user, creating an amalgamation of visual and tactile sensibilities in design which creates a bond between the objects, the space and the user. Our design strategy also partakes in explorations of anatomies of shape and forms, while we research its following stimulations and effects on the whole volumes of space and its relationship with the design.

Our practice

We strongly believe in the art of detailing, therefore trying to interweave art and craft with architecture through the age-old concept of best out of waste. This process enables us to understand and explore the materiality and raw properties of objects or as we call it; peeling the layers of its skin to explore the bare nature of anything and everything in design.
